Welsh onion belongs to the herbacious layer in the food forest. The growth rate is medium. Fully grown the plant has an average height of 0.7 to 0.8 meter. and a width of 0.3 to 0.6 meter.
This species forms a tuberous root system. Welsh onion is no nitrogen fixer.
